A Journey Through Art and Time
Step through the iconic glass pyramid and enter the Louvre Museum — a world where centuries of art and history come alive under one roof. As you descend into the main hall, you’ll find yourself at the heart of the museum, where three great wings extend outward: Denon, Sully, and Richelieu. Each wing offers a unique path through the civilizations and masterpieces that have shaped human culture.
Begin your visit in the Denon Wing, to the left of the pyramid — home to the museum’s most famous treasures. Climb the majestic Daru staircase, where the powerful Winged Victory of Samothrace greets you with wind-swept grace. Just beyond, you’ll enter a gallery buzzing with anticipation: at its heart hangs Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, serene and mysterious, in Room 711. Nearby, in Room 702, the massive canvas of Napoleon’s Coronation by Jacques-Louis David stretches across the wall, capturing the grandeur of empire. Continue along the Denon galleries to encounter the vibrant Liberty Leading the People by Delacroix and other Renaissance masterpieces by artists like Raphael, Veronese, and Titian.
As you return to the central hall, head straight into the Sully Wing, the oldest part of the Louvre. Here lies the soul of antiquity. On the ground floor, you’ll find the timeless beauty of the Venus de Milo, standing in Room 346. From there, you can explore the museum’s vast Egyptian collection, with galleries that unveil ancient tombs, hieroglyphs, and mummies — transporting you to the banks of the Nile. In nearby rooms, marvel at the Code of Hammurabi, one of the world’s oldest legal texts, nestled among Babylonian and Mesopotamian wonders.
Turning now to the Richelieu Wing, to the right of the pyramid, you’ll walk into a world of elegance and empire. On the second floor, the lavishly decorated Napoleon III Apartments immerse you in the splendor of 19th-century France, with chandeliers, velvet drapes, and gilded ceilings. On the ground floor, beneath soaring glass roofs, the Cour Marly and Cour Puget house majestic French sculptures bathed in natural light. Deeper within the wing, you’ll find Near Eastern antiquities, and on the upper floors, the refined brushwork of Dutch and Northern European painters — including Rembrandt and Vermeer.
Whether you’re here to see the world’s most celebrated artworks or to wander through ancient civilizations, the Louvre offers a journey like no other — where every room is a gateway to the past, and every step leads to a new story waiting to be discovered.
