Old Stone Age

The Paleolithic collection in the NI Archaeological Museum of Macedonia contains materials from the sites of Makarovec and Golema Pesht, and various raw materials from many micro-regions in Macedonia.

Early Stone Age

The chronological framework of the Macedonian Neolithic is compatible with the existing periodization in the Balkans. On the archeological map of the Republic of Macedonia ca. 200 Neolithic sites have been registered.

Copper Age – Eneolithic

The Eneolithic or Copper Age covers the period from 4.200 to 2000 years BC. The first information about this period was obtained by archaeological excavations and investigations conducted over a period of more than sixty years.

Bronze Age

The Bronze Age culture on our territory was formed during the last waves of the major Indo-European migrations. In the beginning, it was connected with the northern Balkans and belonged to the central Balkan complex of the Early Bronze Age, which covered a broader area of the Balkan Peninsula.

Iron Age

The archaeological collection, which represents the Iron Age, contains many items; it is the only representative cross-section of Iron Age material culture on the territory of Macedonia, from the XI to the end of the VI century BC.
